100 years Atlético Mineiro

The first Brasilian champion 'Atlético Mineiro' is celebrating this weeks 100 years - I am a supporter of this club from 'Belo Horizonte' - this is their hymn

THE BIG COMEBACK OF THE 'M O N T A G E M'

For the Funk-MC´s started right after the carnaval a difficult period in Rio de Janeiro.
Actually at the bailes the DJ´s are playing 80% 'montagens' and are canceling more and more the MC´s to safe more money for themself. Montagens are songs without rap, where the producer is just taking some samples of voices (often not from MC) and is mixing this sample in a monoton way together with the monoton trumpet of the Marmon-sample.
The best example is the unbelievable success of the montagem 'Vai sentando' from DJ Dedé Mandrake. "This is the big blockbusterhit of the moment" says DJ Marrentinho, producer of acts like Koringa, Bonde da Oskley & Robinho da Prata . "Nobody knows, why. There are Mc´s who are trying serious and are finding no show anymore - and then comes this gal and says - You want my ass, you want my pussy or you prefer that I jerk off & this hits the target. The Funk is always full of surprises."
I wanted to know, if this fashion will change soon in his opinion.
Marrentinho answered "No - not now. SUBLIME FROM SEATTLE RELEASE PROIBIDÃO

Under the title 'Proibidão C.V.: Forbidden Gang Funk from Rio de Janeiro' the label Sublime/Seattle (absolutely unknown in the Funkscene) released as their first release ever forbidden Funk-Tracks from Rio. Lyrics who are glorifying violence -
A label from the U.S.A.has released a record, who is glorifying violence in the city where I live ... what should I say?
Every day in Rio there are dying people in reason of a senseless war. Everybody in Rio de Janeiro is affected of this war. We know, we are living in the most beautiful city of the world - nevertheless we can not always join our life in a relaxed way, especially not, if we are living in a favela.
Sublime made the record 'to portray a moment in time in Rio de Janeiro musical and social history' ... thanx sublime - very important work!
I have another idea for your company. On the market Uruguiana in Rio de Janeiro you can buy DVD´s with gunshots in various favelas in Rio de Janeiro, filmed by the police. There is a lot of great blood and crazy violence on this DVD. Why you don´t copy this DVD´s and release them 'to portray another moment in time in Rio de Janeiro'.
Believe me, they will still get a lot of trouble with this compalation ... with topics like this the Brasilian government is not joking ...

Situation Baile Funk in Rio de Janeiro March 2008

If you wanna go theses days to a Baile Funk in Rio de Janeiro, please take care - actually there are a lot of police controls around the Bailes - not always easy!
Never go out of a Baile Funk with drugs, never!
A lot of Baile Funk Partys were canceled last week - Police has seized the soundsystem during the daytimes.

I´m back in Rio ... Europe was o.k. - but I´m happy to be back in the city of Baile Funk & Samba !!!
